The Customer Quality Engineer should possess deep knowledge in quality process design, automotive PPAP, end to end qualification, quality control and assurance, quality management (i.e. according to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949:2016).
You will play an important role to lead and coordinate qualification in product development projects, collaborating with Northvolt R&D and Sales departments, equipment design, development teams and process engineers to efficiently achieve a high standard Li-ion cell development process with effective quality gates.
In general you have a long experience from quality management in product development, specifically in the automotive industry, You have a deep understanding of working and cooperating cross-functionally in a multi-cultural environment with Business Development/Marketing, R&D, Production, Process engineering, IT and Automation. Communication is key in this role.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Leading projects with quality tasks to complete the customer qualification process including documentation
APQP : Quality planning for necessary items based on customer milestones
Automotive customer requirement analysis : Participate in feasibility study and Procedure method set up for all customer requirements
Development quality management, DFMEA: Support the structure set up, risk analysis and customer communication
Product verification : Based on customer requirement, product verification should be defined
Quality Gates : Manage Quality milestone gates for product and process for each development phase
Customer milestone gate approval : depending on customer process, customer milestone gate should be managed and approved
Continuous customer communication and responsible for VOC
Owning, developing, standardizing and executing Northvolt' s automotive Production Parts Approval Process
Work across many parts of the organisation, collaborating with business development, technical design and development team, process engineering and automation
Oversee completion of all parts of the qualification process including DFMEA, PFMEA and control plan with R&D and Process team
PPAP : Customer approval for final development

Skills & Requirements
MSc degree in mechanical/chemical engineering or similar
Automotive customer requirement analysis
Experience in automotive Customer development process (Preferred German customer) Preferred whole development period
Quality tools : FMEA, SPC, process capability, MSA, 8D
Six sigma training and familiar with DOE, SPC, D/P FMEA, Quality troubleshooting tools and problem solving methodology
Education in relevant quality discipline
5+ years of relevant work experience within high volume production
Experience of qualification processes and/or parts in the automotive industry

At Northvolt we have several opportunities for graduates to be part of our Quality Control team and contribute to the commissioning activities in our Västerås factory during Q2 and Q3.

Quality

The Northvolt Quality Control team in Västerås is looking for driven young engineers or soon-to-be engineers, preferably with chemical background. You will be working on various analyses, controls and tests of battery materials, components, intermediate product and finished li-ion cells. You will be part of an innovative, enthusiastic and friendly team! You will be trained to independently run advanced instruments and equipment in laboratory. We believe you have studied chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar including laboratory work and as a person you are curious about the world of quality.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Lead day-to-day quality control activities in production ensuring that production/product quality specifications are met.
- Operate various analytical equipment such as a Karl Fischer titrator, measurement instruments, micrometer, microscopes etc.
- Improve control checks according to control plan.
- Interpret data and report data/results vs specification
- Report problems and non-conformities (NCRs) that are detected and recommend the improvements.
- Participate in 8D reports and ensure the actions are implemented.

Do you have what it takes to enable the future of energy? Northvolt is right now looking for Battery Modelling and Ageing Specialists join our team. You will be given the opportunity to develop advanced Li-ion battery simulation models as well as being a part of building the first European large-scale lithium-ion battery factory.

We are searching for specialists with experience in Li-ion battery sizing, degradation and ageing modelling. The expected competences include being experienced in understanding electrochemical and thermal battery characteristics as well as ability to incorporate metrics and test results of battery cell testing.

You have experience of working close to the hardware & prototypes of Li-ion batteries and have great knowledge of software programming and software architecture. Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working and cooperating with R&D, QA/QC, IT, Automation.

Key Responsibilities:
· Be part of the team that develops, verifies and maintains the battery degradation models for Northvolt.

· Deliver advanced battery models with reliable performance lifetime/degradation prediction.

· Ensure connectivity and possibility to integrate complex online calculation and machine learning methods

· Develop and architect concepts for data analysing and feedback learnings into the Northvolt battery degradation models.

· Execute engineering tasks defined within projects in order to meet schedule, budget and specifications

· Be part of improvement projects, the agile development and change management process.

· Review, approve and ensure structured documentation of the battery models.

Safety, energy density and total cost of ownership are key drivers for optimizing a battery system which should be mastered and understood. It is an advantage to be familiar with international standards and modelling procedures commonly accepted in the Li-ion battery industry.

Your experience and background
· Master's or PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.

· Background and experience control theory including nonlinear filtering, estimation and machine learning.

· Deep knowledge and experience in algorithms and design optimization.

· Communication skills are important since information will be needed from several different parts of the department.

· Excellent in Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, RTOS (real time operating system), Java.

· +6 years of experience in state-of-the-art simulation modelling development within battery or related electrical/chemical industries.

· Excellent analytical skills, especially in understanding technical documentation and be able to translate this into quantitative models.

· Should be an expert in writing software code and be able to guide and coach other colleagues to write software code with correct procedures and change management.

· Excellent English written and oral skills
