You will be a part of the Motors & Generators business unit. Synchronous Machines develop, manufacture and sell synchronous and asynchronous AC motors and generators with output of around 1 MW and upwards for motor drives and generator applications.

As a quality engineer focused on production, you will have a central role in improving both customer perceived quality and internal efficiency.

Your responsibilities
In this position you will be a part of our quality department which also are responsible for the unit’s quality management system, customer complaints, supplier quality development, special processes and continuous improvements.
You will have a central role and act as a coordinator between our Supplier Quality, Production and Project Execution with the objective to obtain and maintain a high level of quality from our operations processes.
You will have various areas of responsibilities to enable the fulfillment of quality goals.
You will coordinate and develop quality coordinators in production, report, monitor and analyses quality parameters from operation.
You will also manage Lean/6-sigma activities to secure that proper root-cause analyses are done and that corrective actions are defined and implemented.
You will continuously identify areas for improvements by supporting other functions such as R&D and conducting internal audits.

Your background
In this position you need to have a high level of analytic skills, good technical understanding and knowledge with a questioning attitude.
You hold a BSc degree or higher in a technical area combine with a few years of practice.
This position puts high demands on your quality competence where you have skills in 6-sigma, green or black belt and the skills needed to manage small projects.
You have a high level of communication and cooperation skills to be able to collaborate with all levels of the organization, as well as suppliers and customers.
High knowledge in MS Office, experience in production processes and measurement techniques is consider an advantage.
Fluency in English and Swedish is a must, written and spoken alike.

ABB Traction Motors is globally responsible for the development, design and manufacturing of traction motors. The center of excellence, located in Västerås Sweden, is responsible for the development and order design of traction motors for the global market and for all of ABB’s production units. There are engineering offices in China as well as Sweden.
ABB is an independent supplier of traction motors and as such we are in contact with a large number of different international customers and applications. Our customers are mainly train manufacturers or propulsion system providers supplying vehicles for different applications such as high-speed trains, regional trains, metros, tramways and other heavy electrical vehicles.
As R&D Senior Electrical Engineer you will have a most exciting and important position in our global organization. You will support all three manufacturing locations (Sweden, China and India) building traction motors for railway. Your responsibilities
Taking a technical leading role within the electrical design of motors for rail vehicles in ABB, coaching others and contributing with knowledge and input also outside the area of responsibility.
Developing our dimensioning tools for traction motors, including development, offering and order tools and direct influence in our development of new products.
Advanced technical support in the sales process, including customer visits and interaction.
Bringing and spreading traction application experience/knowledge to the department and global colleagues.
Responsibility for setting and challenging electrically related design rules which will be used in the design work.
Managing customer contact in cases where advanced technical support is needed and being the expert at fairs and customer meetings.

Your background
A University degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably specializing in Rotating Machines and/or Electrical Drive Systems, or alternatively, a degree in Power Systems, focusing on electrical drive systems or Rotating Machines.
At least 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering and preferably from the traction business.
Good understanding of electrical design or motors is required.
General knowledge of thermal design and modeling, is required
Train system and knowledge of the important train parameters that affect the traction motor design, is seen as advantage.
Experience in using motor design programs and knowledge of general frequency converter, is meritorious.
As a person you must be outgoing and enjoy interacting with both customers and colleagues.
Good communication skills in English are a must as you will be daily working in a global company.
It is qualifying/good to have: Swedish, Spanish, Chinese, German or Russian knowledge.

Contract Governance  • Ensure the portfolio of contracts (Customer, Consortium and Subcontracts) in the business follow contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with applicable procedures. • Provides guidance and leadership on contract related matters to cross­ functional business team members. • Applies sound legal awareness and liaises with legal, technical departments and advisors. • Supports and coordinates with relevant ABB functions the handling of all contractual matters in respect of compliance, export control, export trade finance, insurance, tax, etc.2. Tender preparation and negotiation • In support of ABB Legal, or in lieu of it if no ABB Legal is available, performs the reviews and comments on commercial, Contractual and technical tender terms and conditions and any necessary task during the tendering stage (e.g. risk reviews, qualification documents, etc.).  • Develops contract strategy based on ABB’s policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.3. Contract execution (from project kick-off to project closure) • Identifies the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlights areas of opportunities and potential risk. • Ensures timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts / subcontracts (i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.).4. Subcontracting • Supports drafting of Contracts, Subcontracts and Supply Contracts and ensures that relevant (supply / sub) contracts contain appropriate contract terms to protect ABB's interest including flow-down of main contract terms.5. Contract Close Out • Verifies that all parties to the contract have fulfilled their contractual obligations and there are no responsibilities outstanding. • Assesses the success of the contract and determines if there are any lessons learned for future contracting. • Documents and communicates to all relevant parties any deficiencies found as part of the closeout process.6. Contract, claims and disputes • Establishes and enforces standard methodologies in portfolio of contracts to identify, notify, enforce or defend changes / claims coming from / towards third parties including insurance claims. • In conjunction with ABB Legal, develops the negotiation strategy and supports negotiations. Supports ABB Legal in handling formal dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration proceedings. Notifies and liaises with ABB Legal to report major claims and keeps ABB Legal updated on any critical development during project execution.7. Risk Management • Analyzes areas of potential opportunity and risk. • Supports the development and implementation of risk mitigation and opportunity plans in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.8.
