Arbetsuppgifter
Som forskningsingenjör kommer du att arbeta i ett omfattande EU?finansierat forskningsprojekt (över 50 miljoner euro) med närmare 40 akademiska och industriella partners. Projektet bedrivs inom ramen för den forskningsverksamhet som pågår vid Future Energy Center (FEC) och fokuserar på elektrifiering av flyg.
Rollen kombinerar avancerad teknisk analys och modellering med nära samarbete i internationella forsknings- och industrimiljöer. En betydande del av arbetet sker i samverkan med externa partnerorganisationer.
I rollen som forskningsingenjör kommer du bland annat att:
Modellera och simulera prestanda och miljöpåverkan hos hybridelektriska flygmotorer
Arbeta med preliminär systemdesign och uppdragsanalys
Delta i och bidra till tvärvetenskapliga och internationella projektteam
Samverka med akademiska och industriella partners, nationellt och internationellt
Presentera och sprida forskningsresultat vid projektmöten, konferenser och genom vetenskapliga publikationer

Du förväntas kunna ta eget ansvar, arbeta självständigt när det behövs samt bidra aktivt till projektets och forskningsmiljöns utveckling.
Kvalifikationer
Magisterexamen inom energiteknik, maskinteknik, flygteknik eller annat relevant tekniskt område
Mycket god förmåga att kommunicera teknisk information på engelska, både muntligt och skriftligt
Svenskt eller annat EU?medborgarskap (p.g.a. projektets säkerhetsklassning).

Meriterande
Kunskap inom framdrivnings- och flygteknik, inklusive prestanda- och konceptuell design
Erfarenhet av energisystemmodellering och matematisk optimering
Programmeringskunskaper inom exempelvis Matlab, Python, C++, Fortran eller motsvarande
Erfarenhet av industriell FoU eller arbete i akademiska forskningsprojekt
Erfarenhet av internationellt forskningssamarbete och samverkan med externa parter.

Drive innovation in mechanical testing 
As a Mechanical Testing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and performing advanced mechanical tests for high voltage products.
Your responsibility will be to: 
* Build test set-ups for mechanical investigations and mechanical test fixtures. 
* Perform both advanced and standard mechanical tests, including data acquisition and analysis. 
* Manage and participate in consulting and R&D projects from initial client conversations to conclusion and analysis.

Skilled engineer with a passion for innovation 
We are looking for a motivated individual with a few years of experience in mechanical testing within R&D or equivalent experience. Recent graduates with the right skills, personality, and attitude are also welcome to apply.
You should have: 
* A B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering ?or equivalent with hands-on experience in mechanical testing. 
* Experience with fatigue testing (considered an asset).

Innovate and develop mechanical testing for world class high voltage products
As the demand for advanced mechanical testing is growing, we are now looking for one Mechanical testing engineer to join the Applied Mechanics Department. The core skills in our department span different fields in applied mechanics, advanced testing, and Multiphysics simulations, including tailor-made mechanical testing design for assisting in the development of new or improved products. 

The department’s portfolio includes a broad spectrum of high and medium voltage products, particularly focusing on high-voltage cables, contributing to the global effort for a sustainable energy transformation. As mechanical test engineer you will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment with a keen interest in innovation. You will provide technical support to NKT and to other industries worldwide in overcoming complex mechanical issues across different products and in all stages of the product development cycle.

We’re looking for someone with a few years' experience in mechanical testing within the R&D function or equivalent experience.

Vi söker dig som har relevant erfarenhet i laboratoriemiljö, med specifik erfarenhet inom drift och underhåll av olika anläggningar som pannor/förgasning, trycksatta system, inklusive kopplingar med SCADA- och DCS-system.

För att lyckas i rollen bedömer vi att du har god kunskap och erfarenhet av att sätta upp och genomföra mätning med tillhörande mätdatainsamling för olika typer av laboratorie- och försöksuppställningar.

Your role and responsibilities
You will be part of the Robotics team at ABB Research in Västerås Sweden. In our role as ABB Research, we ensure ABB's technology competitiveness now and in future. In the Robotics team we focus on mechatronics concepts, design and robot intelligence in both industrial and service robot segments. Our research activities usually formulated as technology pre-study and technology development projects. We work closely with ABB's robotics business to ensure our research will bring unique value for ABB business. At the same time, we have close collaboration with academic world to bridge the academic and industrial research. In this team, one of our historical highlights is the creation and development of the dual-arm YuMi robot concept and the mobile YuMi concept.
As part of our team, your focus will be in two aspects. Your primary focus will be developing new robot and mechanical system concepts and prototypes. This includes design, calculation, simulation and analysis, testing, and the verification and validation of concepts. You secondary focus will be working as an expert user of our robot design and calculation toolchain, and further develop such tool chain.
Starting with scouting the latest technology based on stakeholder requirements, you will generate new robot and mechanical system concepts. These concepts will then be developed into technology demonstrators or prototypes using ABB's design tools. Following this, you will handle procurement, component and system testing, and necessary verification and validation both internally and externally. Finally, you will document the results in various technical reports.
Your role will involve independently exploring the entire development chain while closely collaborating with colleagues within the research organization, stakeholders, and result receivers on ABB's business side. You will also work closely with suppliers and selected customers for pilot projects.
Qualifications for the role

At the School of Business, Society and Engineering our students are studying to be for example Bachelors or Masters of Engineering, political scientists and business administrators. Here we have the research specialisations of Industrial Engineering and Management, and Future Energy. Position description 
The School of Business, Society and Engineering is looking for a researcher in energy and environmental engineering. The position involves working within the research specialization Future Energy Center (FEC). The work is part of the research activities conducted in experimental measurements in fluid mechanics and heat transfer under relevant ongoing projects at FEC. The research work focuses on designing and developing experimental fluid dynamics laboratory and more particularly on methods involving phase change processes e.g. boiling process, for cooling systems. The experimental results analysis is performed using advanced tools and particularly highly accurate image processing algorithms.

A large part of the work will be done at - or in close contact with - several partner organizations. The successful candidate is therefore expected to have a good engineering background with profound skills in experimental fluid mechanics and heat transfer including boiling processes and be able to interact effectively with partner research institutes, industry, colleagues and other stakeholders. The position may also include creating/teaching in courses related to energy and/or environmental engineering.

Qualification requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Fluid Mechanics Engineering or Energy Engineering.

To qualify for the appointment as a researcher, you should have received a PhD and shown research and pedagogical skills within the subject area. The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Experience in experimental measurements in the field of fluid mechanics and heat transfer related to boiling process.
• Knowledge of, experience with, and interest in using and developing fluid mechanics laboratory and oversee various experiment.
• Base knowledge and strong interest to deepen your know-how in advanced cooling technologies in general with a special focus on two-phase cooling.
• Strong interest or experience in energy system modelling.
• Strong interest or experience on high-speed camera visualization and image processing algorithms with analysis tools such as Python and/or Matlab.
• Strong interest or experience on infrared visualization.
• Experience in teaching at the university level in energy engineering and/or mechanical engineering.
• Ability to collaborate with other researchers as well as work independently.

• Experience and interest in interaction with various international partner organizations and professional management and cooperation, including representing MDH at project meetings abroad.

A substantial part of the research conducted at MDH is externally funded. Experience from coordinating applications for, and working in, externally-funded projects is therefore of high merit. You should have a good number of peer-reviewed articles within the stated areas published at leading conferences and highly-ranked international peer-reviewed journals.
