Role Description


This is a full-time, on-site position for a Lead Embedded Software Engineer at Ochno AB in Västerås, Sweden.


As Lead Developer, you will be responsible for the long-term architecture decisions of Ochno’s embedded software stacks and for guiding the embedded development team.


Your role will also include:
Collaborating closely with the hardware design and cloud software teams.
Managing relationships with key IC suppliers on firmware-related topics.



Our main embedded software stack is built around FreeRTOS and runs on three hardware platforms (Microchip, NXP, and ESP). All embedded systems are IoT-enabled and connected to Ochno Operated, the global management platform provided by Ochno for our customers and alliance partners.


In addition to standard embedded protocols, we also work with USB, USB Power Delivery, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The role includes maintaining relationships with leading IC suppliers in these domains to ensure that Ochno’s products leverage the latest technologies and maintain interoperability across all levels.


Qualifications


MSc/BSc in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded systems programming using C/C++ and assembly.
Strong skills in hardware-level debugging and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of embedded system architectures and processors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Fluency in English and Swedish, both spoken and written, as required for communication with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
A valid Swedish work permit in accordance with national regulations.



Not mandatory but considered meritorious


Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS and embedded IoT development.
Experience with Infineon PSoC / ModusToolbox, ESP32 / Espressif, and NXP MCUXpresso software development.
Technical experience at the protocol level with USB, USB PD, DisplayPort, and HDMI.
General knowledge or experience in hardware design.

Senior Electronics Engineer
Ochno AB is looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer that will head all hardware product development and complement our highly innovative team. Ochno has a track-record of innovating and developing unique electronics and digital services for the modern workplace and we trust that you will be the right person to bring this to the next level.
You will be located at the head office in Västerås, in historic buildings by the river Svartån with the cathedral and the main square as the closest neighbors. Ochno is the Västerås company that has succeeded with its innovation and currently challenging the global companies on how to build the smartest solutions for the modern workplace, meeting places and eventually entire properties. You will collaborate with an agile team distributed internationally.
Ochno is both doing in-house electronics design of complete products, but also work to define standardized sub-systems that are then turned into products by other OEMs. All hardware products are fully IoT-enabled and have advanced technologies for video and USB switching. There is also a large amount of power electronics for the different USB-C charging functions in the products.

Role description
Responsible for hardware design, both when done in-house or sourced from external parties.
Work closely with the embedded and cloud software teams to ensure that the hardware becomes as programmable as possible.
Collaborate with manufacturing parties to ensure all designed products are manufactured correctly.
Work closely with key IC-suppliers to make sure that Ochno gets early access and great support to the latest and greatest components.
Work closely with external partners to ensure compliance with regulatory standards (EMC, safety, radio).



Qualifications
Experienced hardware designer, from idea to final PCBA produced at volume.
·Fluent in English and preferably Swedish
Extra plus is:
Experience in design of high-bandwidth application with high signal-integrity requirements, e.g. HDMI and USB 4
Experience in high-efficiency AC/DC and DC/DC power electronics in the sub 500W space, including GaN-based systems.
Experience in working with Asian ODMs to produce advanced electronics
Design of automated electronic test and QA systems.
Experience in EMC-optimization and global certification processes
Can be on-site at the office in Västerås at least 50% of the time
